Swiss Watch Factory Tours

If you imagine that most Swisswatch manufacturers are housed in traditional factories or even stone built houses then you wouldn’t be far wrong. So imagine when I was asked to look at the Vaucher operation in Fleurier. As you drive to the facility you pass signs to some other makers in very traditional places (even a castle!) so when I first set eyes on the modern Vaucher factory I was amazed and would be amazed even more.

I was greeted by the CEO who took me to his office. One of my first questions was about the Richard Mille watches (now we’re talking pricey, six figure pricey in any currency) and he excused himself for a minute, left the table where we were chatting and returned from his desk he scattered several of the very same watch plates in dark metal over the table. If I were to have estimated their value it would have been heading towards six figures again!

And on the tour I met experts watch makers, saw computerised metal fabricating machines, testing gear and more, it was mind boggling! A slick operation by any measure it gives the whole story of high technology manufacture.
